We have to admit — we’re skeptical about the new movie version of any classic novel, and since The Great Gatsby is (arguably) the classic American novel, the new version coming to theaters May 10 has us more than a little concerned. On the other hand, director Baz Luhrmann has taken crazier ideas and more iconic material before and turned them into outstanding films (see Romeo + Juliet, Simply Ballroom and Moulin Rouge), and Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby makes a lot of sense, so at least we’ll check out this remake.
Will you be in line on May 10? To hold you over until then, check out the trailer below. And, of course, read the book!
