We’ve been waiting for Joss Whedon’s adaptation of Much Ado about Nothing to hit wide release, and we couldn’t be happier that it’s finally reached Birmingham’s Edge 12 theater, so we can see what the Avengers director does with a merry band of Shakespeare players. Our bookseller Janie has already seen it, and she considers it one of two perfect movies she’s ever seen — that’s high praise, but if anyone can live up to it, we think Whedon can.
Will the characters live up to the adaptations we’ve already seen? Will Whedon blow us away, like he did Janie? Seeing Shakespeare’s work continually reinterpreted reminds us of how enduring story is, and how great writing really does live on in our imaginations for generations. Want to take that journey for yourself? Check out the trailer below, read the play (we’ve linked to a great Kobo eBook that supports our blog), and go see Much Ado about Nothing at The Edge!
