At the stroke of midnight on one fateful night in India, 1,001 children are born. There is much fanfare and fireworks, because the independence of their country is forged in the same night. Oh, and they all have special powers, from time traveling to psychic abilities — and one of psychic children uses his gift to discover that he was switched at birth, and instead of the lap of luxury he’s enjoying, his birthright is actually a slum. Dramatic! And, like all Salman Rushdie’s books, it’s incredible storytelling as well.
All this turns into a film on April 26, and, while we’re not midnight-child psychics, we have to say it’s looking good. Check out the trailer below, and keep scrolling to download the book and read it before you catch it on the big screen.
