In Search of the Perfect Storefront with Birmingham Brokers Lyndsy Yim and Jackie Hollingsworth

This week, The Localist is diving into the world of choosing a brick and mortar retail space for your small business. Carrie is joined by Lyndsy Yim and Jackie Hollingsworth, both experienced brokers in the Birmingham area and the southeast. Jackie, Lyndsy, and Carrie start off with the things you need to have prepared before engaging a broker, including a business plan and financials. Many business owners don’t know everything that goes into securing a retail space, and Jackie and Lyndsy break down the benefits of having someone on your side throughout the process. Lyndsy generally works as a tenant rep and breaks down what you should be looking for as a tenant when looking for a broker (they should obviously support local businesses!). Jackie and Lyndsy then tell Carrie how the pandemic has affected their industry, the importance of having a support system, and why they both love what they do. They wrap up with what they look for in potential clients, and how to work with them.
