Everybody Hates Self Publishing

A Podcast for People Who Publish Their Own Work

If you’re trying to produce and publish your own work, you’ll get a lot of advice — most of it from companies who want to sell you a tool to “make it easy.” The fact is, self publishing is tough. And even though it’s called “self” publishing, you won’t be able to do it alone. In this podcast, designed to walk you through the self publishing journey, Carrie Rollwagen, author of the Localist book, interviews the experts who helped her bring her book to life.

About Everybody Hates Self Publishing

@crollwagen

Self publishing advice from someone who’s been there.

Hi, I’m Carrie Rollwagen, and I published the book The Localist in 2015. Since then, lots of aspiring authors have asked me if they, too, should jump into the world of self-publishing. The truth is, self-publishing is difficult, and it has a lot of haters (the traditional publishing industry, for one). But it can also be incredible and fulfilling.

Hear from the experts who can help a self publisher succeed.

So I wanted to talk about all of it — the good, the bad and the ugly of creating and producing your own work. My podcast, Everybody Hates Self-Publishing, launched in May 2017 — listen on iTunes, Stitcher, or wherever you listen to podcasts — or listen online by clicking on any of the episodes listed above.

Self publishing experience not required – I don’t aspire to self-publish, but I’ve heard all the pitches about how it’s so easy. I’m finding Carrie’s take on the various aspects of self-publishing to be candid and refreshing. No sales pitches here – just a little tough love with a great sense of humor.
