It’s happened: Zombies are everywhere. All we had in the beginning was the standard zombie movie where the dead come to life and shuffle around and moan and eat people.
Well, now you can play a video game on your phone where you have your very own zombie farm and grow cute little googly-eyed zombies by watering them and feeding them brains. There are zombie 5Ks and, if you don’t run fast enough, people in full zombie costumes and make up will “eat” you before you reach the finish line. Kids playing on the playground say things like, “Nu uh! You didn’t kill me. You shot me in the heart. You have to shoot a zombie in the head to kill him. So, I ate you!” Even the freaking Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a federal agency, got in on it, and published an article on their blog which gave step by step instructions on how to survive a zombie apocalypse in order to get people thinking about proper planning and readiness for real disasters.
And now zombies are back in the movies, too, with next week’s release of Warm Bodies and this summer’s World War Z. Check out the trailers below, and see how zombies have, if you’ll forgive the pun, truly infested today’s popular culture.
