What is page styling?

Page styling is quite an open-ended topic, but it’s an important part of editing your website — there are usually things you can do to make your pages look better in terms of design. Your CMS likely provides you with a set of tools when it comes to text and images, and it’s important to utilize those to your advantage.

A good place to start is the “hierarchy” of your website. You want the important things, like titles and headlines, to be bigger than everything else. We also recommend left justified paragraphs and text instead of center justified, because it’s a lot easier to read.

When adding images to your website, keep quality and subject matter in mind. Make sure the images are high quality, and that they don’t look too busy — you don’t want your images to compete with the rest of the content on your website.

Try to keep everything balanced on your website. It’s more of a subconscious thing to do — you don’t have to be an artist to do this. Look at the left and right sides of your website and try having the same amount of content on both sides. Repetition is also good — using similar colors and images will make your website more pleasing to the eye.
