Hi, I’m Carrie Rollwagen, and I published the book The Localist in 2015. Since then, lots of aspiring authors have asked me if they, too, should jump into the world of self-publishing. The truth is, self-publishing is difficult, and it has a lot of haters (the traditional publishing industry, for one). But it can also be incredible and fulfilling.

Great content from a knowledgeable and engaging host. If you have an interest is publishing your work, whether it be a book, film, or other art medium, this is the podcast for you. Carrie’s experiences in the writing and publishing world, along with her kind and engaging spirit, make her the perfect host. She and her guests share both the good and bad sides of self-publishing, without any sort of agenda other than to be honest and helpful. Carrie is also clearly an experienced podcaster, so the audio quality is on point and the content clearly conveyed. Can’t wait to hear more!
Self publishing experience not required – I don’t aspire to self-publish, but I’ve heard all the pitches about how it’s so easy. I’m finding Carrie’s take on the various aspects of self-publishing to be candid and refreshing. No sales pitches here – just a little tough love with a great sense of humor.
Approachable & Easy Listening — Carrie has such an approachable way of educating you about the subject. She is easy to listen to and very honest about everything. Carrie has a way of keeping you entertained through her wit and conversational tone while still delivering a lot of information. This girl knows your stuff and packages it in a fun and lighter way you will enjoy!

If you are a book industry junkie and want to know more, this is for you. If you truly hate self-published authors and enjoy hearing about people struggling, this is for you (well, maybe not, but give it a listen and see!). Carrie is knowledgable and funny and knows her stuff.
